OUR PHONE SYSTEM PROBLEMS

We opened our present cabin business in the early 80's. We installed a some what pricy phone system at that time! Primarily to communicate to and from the cabins to the office. We offered the phone service as a free service. Shortly we had to block long distance outgoing calls, then we had to limit the time of the calls. Still folks would re-dial after being cut off in 15 minutes, and stay on the phone for 30, 45,  min. Could care less about anyone else using the phone. (Thank goodness for cell phones)
Now the latest gimmick. Folks use our 800 number to call us and ask us to transfer the call to a cabin. And we gladly transferred. I have check our 800 bill the last couple of months and have 15, 30 and 45 min. calls. So what's happening, folks have figured out how to get us to pay for the calls they make to friends in the cabins. So, we no longer transfer calls. We will take a message and forward to the cabin.  Regardless, even if you say your not using the 800 number.  The line is still tied up and we are out of business. Folks, again could care less about the time they spend on the phone.  It just takes a few!!!
We only have two phone lines, one outgoing line and one business incoming line. Some folks call us asking for information (about other cabins, attractions, things to see and do) Sorry our 800 # is for reservations only, not as a chamber business info line..

OUR LATE HOT TUB AND ISSUES.

For years we offered a Hot Tub with a daily use fee of $10.00. Spring of 2007 lighting took out the control panel. The cover became water logged and needed replacement. All and all the costs would have been over $1,200 dollars.
In a way this problem became a relief to us. Folks again could care less and leave the cover off, wear clothing in the tub, leave the door open for others to use, passed the key to others, placed candles all over the place and waxed dripping on the floor, sides of the tub was a major cleanup problem. Normal maintenance was also expensive. Chemicals, etc. So we no longer offer the Hot Tub.

GENERAL COMMENTS

Almost daily folks ask us for recommendations of other cabins and what they may have open. We advise folks that we do not make any recommendations of our competition and certainly have no idea what they may have open. When we first opened our business, this area had about four cabin business, presently about 25. We have no idea what others have to offer, or how the cabins are and operate. For years we had a rating with AAA with 3 diamonds, until they told use to give all AAA members a 10% discount, and change our office to look more like a Motel Lobby. The problem was the new inspector from AAA was not to bright. He said AAA had no guidelines for cabins and he had to use guidelines for motels. ( Odd, they checked us for over 10 years, never a problem with guidelines). So AAA and I departed.

As one example of why we do not recommended other cabins. (A local cabin business allows dogs, recently a group of people while walking had 3 dogs with them. Can you imagine what that cabin looked like and smelled, not only that but what about the fleas and dandruff.) We offer pet free cabins, not to worry about what may be deposited on the grounds while walking around. Also we are on location 24/7 no remote check in.

WIFI SERVICE

For some time we offered limited wifi service in the cabins. Our first unit was hit by lightning even unplugged and off. So we installed another unit, months later it too was hit by lightning. Basically WiFi is to costly. You can use the service, just call and ask about the location. Thanks hope you understand, its impossible to correct our current brochures, etc.
