- We opened our present cabin business in the early 80's. We
installed a some what pricy phone system at that time! Primarily to communicate
to and from the cabins to the office. We offered the phone service
as a free service. Shortly we had to block long distance outgoing
calls, then we had to limit the time of the calls. Still folks would
re-dial after being cut off in 15 minutes, and stay on the phone for
30, 45, min. Could care less about anyone else using the phone.
(Thank goodness for cell phones)
- Now the latest gimmick. Folks use our 800 number to call us and
ask us to transfer the call to a cabin. And we gladly transferred. I
have check our 800 bill the last couple of months and have 15, 30
and 45 min. calls. So what's happening, folks have figured out
how to get us to pay for the calls they make to friends in the
cabins. So, we no longer transfer calls. We
will take a message and forward to the cabin. Regardless, even
if you say your not using the 800 number. The line is
still tied up and we are out of business. Folks, again could care
less about the time they spend on the phone. It just takes a
few!!!
- We only have two phone lines, one outgoing line and one business
incoming line. Some folks call us asking for information (about other
cabins, attractions, things to see and do) Sorry our 800 # is for
reservations only, not as a chamber business info line..
